A Film makes a come back!

Yes, you read it right, the love for films has returned. Anyone excited? 

What a weird combination of actors. And, there is a certain style to this film, what’s the word I’m looking for?

The Perfect Host

Has anyone seen the film The Perfect Host? Not one of your blockbuster style films, but it was truly entertaining and unique. Not to mention  a double twist in the end. It feels fresh, not a re-make, not based on a book, just brilliant!

Is Batman a Superhero?

I don’t understand. What’s Batman’s power? How’s he a superhero? I mean, he can’t fly, he can’t shoot lasers, he doesn’t have mental powers. He just knows how to punch and has a good car.

Cannot wait to see this film. But the UK riots might put me off going

Still Alive

Not posted for a while. But quite looking forward to seeing Captain America next week and Final Destination 5 the week after. Joy!

Contagion - Another outbreak styled film, can’t go wrong with these type of films, some great actors in this one too!

Finally, something that seems to be unique and thrilling. Can’t wait to see this film - The Ledge.

The Best and Worst Movies of 2011… So Far

 

TOP TEN OF THE YEAR CONTENDERS 

  • The Adjustment Bureau  (I thoroughly enjoy this film. The chemistry between Damon and Blunt is addicting)
  • Beginners (An excellent film, full of life, energy and love)
  • Drive (Pretty much guaranteed to be in my top ten, can’t wait to see it again)
  • Hanna (Another near-guarantee unless the second half of the year is stacked with amazing films)
  • Midnight in Paris (Along with Hanna, this is one of two films I’ve seen in theaters twice this year.)
  • We Need to Talk About Kevin (Creepy, artsy, horrific… Another one I’m anxious to see again.)

MIDWAY POINT HONORABLE MENTIONS 

  • Attack the Block (Depending on the rest of the year, this could move into the top ten)
  • Jane Eyre
  • Polisse
  • Rango
  • Scream 4 (I really liked this film and wish more people had supported it.)

  • Transformers: Dark of the Moon (Pure entertainment)

WORST OF THE YEAR SO FAR 

Out of the list of films below it is hard to pick one that is the absolute worst, but I’d say Sanctum and Sleeping Beauty are the two that stand out that I would never watch again if the choice had to be made. What will be interesting is trying to figure out which of these ten doesn’t make the final list of “Worst of 2011” after the next six months of movie watching.
